Penzance is the major tourist and commercial centre of West Cornwall. This coastal town is steeped in history, while providing all the facilities of modern life for residents and visitors alike.

Penzance is a perfect place to visit any time of the year. The town is steeped in history and Chapel Street is home to many old buildings. The Artists Residence is terrific, fabulous restaurant and lovely quirky rooms. Great architecture too with the Egyptian House being the most surprising. It houses a superb range of natural lotions and potions made on the premises. You can walk down this area and just look at the differing architecture of its buildings and various places to both shop and eat. There are lots of shops, galleries, restaurants and pubs to see and visit.

For many centuries, Penzance has been an important harbour town.  The town also holds a multicultural feeling. For many years groups of young people from all over the world have come to stay with local families in the Penzance area to enjoy a taste of the Cornish way of life.

A must see visit whilst in Penzance is St Michaels Mount. This is connected to the mainland via a cobbled causeway, this is one of Cornwall’s more iconic sights. It was originally a Benedictine monastery, but later the house of the St Aubyn family.

Penzance accommodates many festivals throughout the year, and you would be a fool to miss them. Mazey Day and Golowan Festival take place in June are legendary. The Fish Festival is also another good festival to be part of.
